2013 has been another significant year for The Killdares. All that we continue to achieve has been made possible through the support, dedication, friendship and togetherness offered by YOU…our loyal fans everywhere. And so, as another year comes to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the continued support.
Our tour schedule continues to grow, and this past year we traveled near and far all over the U.S. to spread our grassroots sound. But it wouldn’t have been possible without you! From all over our home state of Texas to Oklahoma…from Ohio to Chicago…from Connecticut to Iowa…and from places like New York all the way down to Florida, our fans went to incredible lengths to raise awareness of the band and show up front-and-center by the thousands to support our independent music. And for that we are truly grateful.
This year also saw the addition of a few endorsement opportunities to our tour gear family. And so…we would also like to thank ALL of our endorsement companies including Gator Cases, Westone, Pearl Drums, Gibson Guitars, Sennheiser Microphones, D’Addario Strings, Evans Drumheads, Silver Fox Drumsticks and Ernie Ball…as they are the ones that continue to support us while out on tour. And through wonderful working relationships with companies such as this, we are able to survive on stage…and on the road…as we go from gig to gig.
It has been an exciting year for us all. But even more exciting times are ahead! So again…Thank You all for being part of our mission to spread Celtic Rock…one concert at a time.
We’ll see you soon! Happy New Year!

Hello KD Nation…
I just wanted to take a minute to let all of our great fans and friends know that I will be saying goodbye at the end of June and stepping down as lead guitarist for The Killdares. It has been an absolute amazing 9-year journey with the band, but I have decided to turn the corner in my musical trek so that I can be closer to my family at home. Believe me, this was not an easy decision to make.
But don’t worry! The KDs have a great new player coming on board that all of you are really going to enjoy! So make sure you continue to come out to all the shows… Read the rest of this entry »

We’re one week into the 2012 State Fair of Texas, and it’s been quite an experience this year. The Fair really upped the irons for us this year, and built a new stage for us. It’s round, and it spins. It take just under four minutes to complete a revolution. I know I’m still getting used it; I’ve never been much for rides. That’s more Tim’s thing. And Roberta’s. And, well, okay, everyone else likes rides. But it’s nice getting to see folks all around us. And to see who’s still hanging out with us next time the stage comes ’round.
Still plenty of time to catch us, everyone. The State Fair goes on everyday until October 21.

Wow! Last night at Lochrann’s in Frisco, Tx – Fri, Jan 29th was a magical night. The amazing response and overwhelming turnout of our wonderful fans was incredible! I think this night topped the last Lochrann’s visit for the KDs back in Nov 2009. Lochrann’s is a great pub to see us perform. Their stage is just the right size for Read the rest of this entry »

1.) Rock (done)
2.) Rock harder than last year (done even more)
3.) Buy 3 new CDs…and I mean like actual physical CDs
[I already met this one too: bought Muse (The Resistance), Mutemath (Armistice), and Swell Season. All 3 are very badass!]
4.) Work out 3 times a week
(not doing too badly on this one. Averaging 2.5 times a week)
5.) Knowing when to put my iPhone down for a nap each day
(uhhh…we’ll come back to that)
6.) Rock like we’ve never rocked before
(I think we’re pretty darn close already on this one)
7.) Make Matt eat something over 800 calories (still no success on this one)
8.) Get van heater fixed
(still surviving on faith…dang that Ft. Worth trip to the Stockyards was cold!)
9.) Buy new drums!
(well…I bought new Pro Mark sticks and EC2 drumheads…that’s a start)
10.) Start recording ideas for next album
(Pro Tools system is burning bright…ready to accept some new songs)

Are we really down to the final four days? That’s incredible. As always, the Fair has proven to be a unique experience. The days start melding together in my mind, unable to distinguish what happened yesterday from 11 days ago. And to think on Monday, it’s back to “regular” life; as if life can ever be truly regular to a full-time bagpiper. Better have another corny dog before it’s all over. Now here’s hoping the sun comes back today!
