Tim Joins the SilverFox Family
Posted by The Killdares on Jan 24, 2012
Today we are proud to announce that our own KD frontman/drummer/lead singer Tim Smith has entered into an agreement with SilverFox drumsticks. Since 1982, SilverFox sticks have outperformed competitors in balance, finish, and durability. And in spite of manufacturing for over 23 years, SilverFox is still one of the best kept secrets in the music industry. With as much touring as we do, Tim needed a stick that was not only comfortable, but also “hits harder and lasted longer” just like the company’s slogan states. And he found that with SilverFox. We are proud to endorse SilverFox and welcome them into our family of tour support products.

Six Water Grog REVIEW: Up Against The Lights

I had not heard of the Dallas, Texas Celtic rock band The Killdares before I watched their recently released concert DVD Up Against the Lights. The first thing I noticed was the professional look. There’s a polished, modern style to the editing that gives it the feel of an arena rock show. The second thing that got my attention was the non-stereotypical songwriting evident in their originals. I was halfway expecting standard songs about whiskey, murder and politics – you know…Celtic rock stuff – but actually what I picked up on was a 1960′s “smile on your brother” kinda vibe coming from drummer and lead vocalist Tim Smith’s lyrics. Pleasantly surprised. While the lyrics may have a folk-rock bent, musically The Killdares have more in common with Aerosmith or Led Zeppelin. [Read entire Review here]

Midwest Irish Focus REVIEW: Up Against The Lights

The Complete Killdares Experience
By Pete Maher, Midwest Irish Focus
Published: August 1, 2011
When I first met The Killdares – at the 2010 Iowa Irish Fest in Waterloo, Iowa – they had quite literally just finished the initial production of this multimedia package at a show in Dallas and they were understandably excited about it. And here we are, just about a year later, and it is very clear to me now why they were so excited.
That is because “The Killdares – Up Against The Lights” is the real deal. Not only is it a full-length concert video, exceptionally recorded, edited and produced – it is also a double CD of just about every favorite Killdares song or tune with a few previously unreleased stunners tossed in there as well. In both efforts, the talents of all band members are exceptionally well showcased.
From the lead singing and driving drumbeats of band founder Tim Smith and the highland piping of Matt Willis to the lyrical fiddle Read the rest of this entry »

Pop Culture Zoo REVIEW: Up Against The Lights

“…My high praise for the band and their music has only increased over time and, with their newest release, they’d earned a place on my bucket list of bands I need to see live. Recorded on July 30, 2010 at the historic Granada Theater in Dallas, TX, Up Against The Lights – Live in Concert packages together a high definition DVD along with two CDs of the entire show in one neat little collection.
If you have a high end home theater system then the DVD will be a very nice treat for you. Dim the lights and crank up the volume. The picture quality is superlative and the sound is crisp and clean. But you will quickly forget the technical aspects as you get drawn into the performance that is The Killdares live.” [Read entire review here]
