The Killdares release fifth full-length album, Secrets of the Day, on July 22

Posted by The Killdares on Jul 10, 2008

Pegasus News – Dallas, TX (July 10, 2008)

Can established Celtic rockers, with a progressive rock sound enriched by bagpipes and fiddle, be considered an indie rock band? — Yes. Yes they can.

In a time when the industry has been turned on its head, and artists are having to become more self-reliant than ever before, these kilt-donning veterans could teach the skinny jean-wearing Emo kids a thing or two about independent rock.

The Killdares’ genre-bending sound has been winning audiences over, world-wide for more than a decade… rolling out album after album, touring the U.S. on the club and festival circuits, while booking, promoting and producing every bit of music on their own. This band proves that “independent” is not a sound, but a way of life.

Secrets of the Day, the band’s 5th full-length album, will be released July 22nd on The Killdares’ own newly-formed record label, Crimson Clover Music. The album will hit digital outlets iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, Amazon digital, ZUNE and many more, plus several independent outlets throughout DFW.

The Killdares are not only committed to handling the business of their band independently, but they are committed to maintaining an entirely independent sound as well. Secrets of the Day is an amazing representation of that sound.

Secrets of the Day launches The Killdares to new heights with its experimental nature and edgy production…a progressive rock masterpiece that inspires and challenges the listener. A unique and captivating album!” says Kirk deCordova of DallasMusic.com.

Secrets of the Day was recorded at Bass Propulsion Labs in Dallas, TX, and produced by Ronan Chris Murphy [King Crimson, Terry Bozzio (Zappa, Missing Persons), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel)]. Murphy describes The Killdares sound as, “…what it might sound like if the Tragically Hip and Radiohead got together and started a Celtic rock band with a bagpiper and one of the best fiddlers in the U.S.”

The album was engineered by Grammy ® nominated Chris Bell of Luminous Sound, who has engineered albums for The Eagles, Polyphonic Spree, Erykah Badu, among many others. Bell will also submit Secrets of the Day for Grammy nomination this year.

The Killdares will kick-off a summer/fall tour with an album release party on Saturday, July 26th at the House of Blues in Dallas. This all-ages show, on the verge of sell-out, will no doubt be filled with infectious energy and feature an intricate set of songs from the new album.
