Reporting Live on Day 5 of the State Fair of Texas

News flash: Livestock is everywhere here. You name the species, except maybe aquatic and it’s here. Lions, Tigers, Bears, oh my! I personally saw hundreds of lambs today on my way into the fair and can’t figure out how someone would be able to pick the best out of them! They all look the same to me. Beautiful, peaceful, and… well fed!
Seriously though, it’s my first fair with the band and even though they’ve been here for 10 years, it seems like we are a new and very special attaction at the fair. I watch people walk by not expecting to see anything special, but am amazed at how they are drawn in by what we all do. The weather was perfect today, which I’ve been told hasn’t always been that way in the past, but it’s really made it great to be on stage in front of everybody and not be baking in the heat. I’m pretty energetic on stage and it sure is easier to do when it’s not 105 in the shade!
So far I’ve really enjoyed my first fair with the band. I’ve met people from all over, including a great guy from Japan the other day. Who would have thought a man from Japan would get what we do? Well, I tell you, he did! Luckily he and we had someone to translate, but great music has always surpassed language barriers!
Today had a special guest in the crowd named Freddie. Freddie has been at the fair before and has seen the band. He is a man that has special needs, but from even an untrained eye, you can tell what a wonderfuland happy person he is. Freddie got up in front of everyone and started dancing and clapping with us from the time we started our
second set. It personally moved me and I was glad to meet him after
our set and sign a State Fair program for him.
I’m really so glad and feel blessed that we are able to reach all sorts of people on such a personal level. To me, this is what it’s all about. I’m truly greatful to be up on stage with Brek, Tim, Matt, & Ro and be able to please people the way that we do!
More to come soon…..
