State Fair of Texas starts This Week!

In the words of Nigel Tufnel from Britain’s legendary Spinal Tap…”These go to 11!” Indeed they do. Especially this week…as we celebrate 11 years at the great State Fair of Texas. That’s right everyone. This Friday we will begin our annual 24-day tour at the biggest fair in the nation…for the 11th time!
You might be saying to yourself, “Hey…how did The Killdares get to be so rockin?” Well…playing 5 shows a day for 24 days might be a reason. Yep…you heard it right. That’s 120 shows over the course of the fair. Plenty of chances to come praise the corn dog gods while gettin’ yer groove on. Big Tex might even consider wearing a kilt with that much Celtic Rock in his backyard. Showtimes: FREE w/ Fair admission at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6PM EVERY DAY! Concert Tonight in Roanoke, TX – CANCELLED Due to Rain

Due to crazy amounts of rain in North Texas over the past 3 days, Arts Council Northeast (formerly ArtsNet) has made the decision to postpone tonight’s show in Roanoke, TX. A lot of standing water remains at the concert site, which would really put a bummer on yer safety and comfort. And we can’t have that now, can we? Stay tuned for a rescheduled Fall date. But, in the meantime I’m sure we’ll see all of you on our State Fair tour, which is just days away.

Hey fans! Tomorrow is the BIG day! So…we were thinking of ways to get our fans more involved in our upcoming DVD shoot, and we came up with a crazy idea, but we need your help! Do you have an iPhone 4, a flip cam, or any other small personal HD video camera? We want our fans to help us film a song during our concert on Friday night! You don’t have to be a pro, just show us what the show looks like from YOUR point of view!! You’ll have your name in the credits and your first entry on your IMDB page 
Just bring your HD camera to the show Friday night July 30th. We’ll tell you when to record, and then after the show…come to the merchandise table in the lobby and we’ll exchange email addresses, so we can retrieve the footage from you.
We’re REALLY excited for you to be a part of our first ever live concert DVD! Just remember, the film crew is only permitting fan filming during ONE SONG! So get your trigger fingers warmed up!

One of the largest festival gatherings in North Texas, this year’s Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games celebrates 24 years of Celtic heritage. Even more awesome than that…The Killdares have been named the headlining band this year, with shows on all 3 days! We are very excited about this, so plan on an entire weekend of rockin’ good times. Location: Maverick stadium on the campus of UTA (Arlington, TX). Check us out on the Main Stage (Glengarry tent) at the following show times: Friday (9:30PM), Saturday (1:30 & 9:00PM) and Sunday (4:30PM)
Help The KDs Cure Cancer on Friday, May 14th

On Friday May 14th we will be joining forces with The American Cancer Society to donate our time as part of an awesome fund-raising and awareness event. We are very proud to be taking part in The Navarro County Relay For Life (Corsicana, TX)…a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. The Killdares will be kicking off the event at 8:00PM, and other bands will continue to play throughout the following 24 hours, keeping the walkers movin’ until 8:00AM the next morning!

TICKETS ON SALE TODAY at 12 Noon CST for our July 30th Live DVD Shoot at the Granada Theater in Dallas, TX! This is the first ever show of this kind for the band…and we want YOU to be a part of it! We will be utilizing a special seating layout, and according to the venue, the left hand side (Sec. 200, 300, 400) is available & will also be sold as Gen. Admission. Balcony will be closed until the lower level seats sell out. Tickets: $12 GA, $20 reserved seating. ALL AGES, under 14 admitted with guardian. Bring the whole family, and get your tickets today!

After taking one year off due to an unforseen swine flu spread in the D/FW metroplex, the word on the street was that this fest would only return when pigs fly. Well…we think we just saw a parcel of pigs fly by, because this week MAYFEST 2010 returns with full force! With 4 days of fun and entertainment, THE KILLDARES will be headlining the event on SATURDAY May 1st. Main Stage, showtime 8:30pm!

Fresh off the heels of our St. Patrick’s week, we’re continuing the momentum tomorrow as we head down to Austin to play a very cool showcase during prime time of SxSW week. Texas Music Magazine (one of the best mags around) is hosting a Reader Appreciation party for all their subscribers on Friday, March 19th at Scholz Garten, and we are fortunate enough to be invited to play as part of this awesome line-up. We go on at 4PM and will be sharing the stage with a number of bands including Radney Roster, Carrie Rodriguez, The Gourds, and more…Check it out here.

The Great Guinness Toast

Come celebrate the luckiest holiday of the year with the band at our early St. Paddy’s Day Great Guinness Toast on Friday, February 19th. People all over the world will be toasting this fine drink that night, but the place to be is with us! This year we’ll be tilting the pints back at the famous Club Congress inside the historic Hotel Congress, right in the heart of downtown Tucson, AZ. Doors at 7:00p, KDs headline at 9:00p
